Cannella Supports Central Valley High Running Back Ja'Quan Gardner for USA Today/Asics "Ultimate Athlete" Competition

Congratulates Gardner on Record Breaking Season

Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) today announced his support for Central Valley High School Running Back Ja’Quan Gardner in his quest to become USA Today/Asics “Ultimate Athlete.”

Gardner, a native of Ceres, broke the single season and career rushing records for Stanislaus Unified School District by finishing his high school career with 6,014 yards rushing in 31 varsity football games and rushing for over 2500 yards during his senior season.

“Ja’Quan is an amazing talent with a very bright future ahead of him,” said Cannella. “His remarkable accomplishments are an inspiration to our community.”

Senator Cannella is asking supporters of Gardner to share this image on their social networks. Voting for the USA Today/Asics “Ultimate Athlete” is currently underway and ends in two days.  

“He’s the latest in a long series of student-athletes who make California proud; we should do everything we can to support him,” added Cannella.
