State Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) today announced hiring Jeff Macedo, a political communications expert with more than 14 years of media affairs experience, as his communications director.
“I’m pleased to welcome Jeff Macedo to my team as communications director,” said Sen. Cannella. “Jeff’s extensive experience in broadcast media and public relations will help ensure that our office continues to communicate effectively with the media and with the constituents we serve. Having served as spokesman for former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and other high-profile candidates, Jeff brings an unparalleled commitment to public service and to building a stronger, more secure future for the 12th Senate District and for California.”
Macedo most recently served as communications director for the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Previously, he served as deputy press secretary in the Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger from 2007 to 2011. He was also director of broadcast media for Schwarzenegger's re-election campaign in 2006. His experience includes working as a producer for both local and national television networks, including KMAX/KOVR in Sacramento, TechTV and MSNBC. Macedo graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Macedo replaces press secretary Jessica Hsiang, who has been named director of the newly launched Miller Public Affairs Group.
“Jessica has been a great asset to my team and played a pivotal role in launching our office’s strategic communications and earned media plan,” Cannella added. “Her talents and contributions will be missed.”
Macedo begins in his new position today.
