SACRAMENTO – Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) today presented Senate Concurrent Resolution 65 (SCR 65) on the Senate floor declaring June as Dairy Month. The resolution recognizes the importance of the dairy industry and the contributions dairy has made to California. SCR 65 passed the Senate unanimously, 37-0.
“I was proud to present SCR 65 to celebrate June as Dairy Month in California,” said Senator Cannella. “The hard work and dedication of the dairy industry has made our state the nation’s leader in dairy production since 1993.”
As California’s number one agricultural commodity, the dairy industry produced $65 billion in total sales to the California economy and contributed $21 billion in value added to the gross state product last year. The California Dairy industry provides the State with 189,000 milk production jobs, with 30,000 of those being on the farm and 20,000 relating to processing.
