Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) was honored last Thursday, December 4, by the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) with a 2014 ACWA Legislative Leadership Award.
ACWA’s Board of Directors voted unanimously to support Proposition 1, the Water Quality, Supply and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014. Passing in both the Senate and Assembly, Proposition 1 was signed by Governor Brown during this year’s legislative session and was approved by voters in November.
“I commend the ACWA’s commitment to ensuring California communities have sustainable water supplies and systems, and I am humbled to be recognized as a recipient of the Legislative Leadership Award,” said Cannella. “I am also very proud to have worked with organizations like the ACWA, as well as legislators on both sides of the aisle, coming together to craft a strong, bipartisan water bond that kept water in the bond, and focused on regional water reliability, storage, sustainable groundwater management and cleanup, and clean drinking water.”
Founded in 1910, ACWA’s mission is to assist its members in promoting the development, management and reasonable beneficial use of good quality water at the lowest practical cost in an environmentally balanced manner.
