TULARE, CA – State Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) today joined 2011 World Ag Expo Chairman Lee Coito, elected officials and agriculture industry representatives at the International Agri-Center in Tulare to open the World Ag Expo 2011: Tools for Agri-Business.
“I’m honored to celebrate the opening of the 44th World Ag Expo, whose tremendous growth since its founding in 1968 is reflective of just how important agriculture is to our region and to the state,” said Cannella. “As chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, I especially appreciate the opportunity to get a firsthand look at the impressive innovation and advancements happening in agribusiness, and I look forward to working together in the months ahead to ensure this important California industry has the freedom and opportunity to compete and thrive for years to come.”
At its founding, the World Ag Expo was known as “Tulare’s Field and Row Crop Equipment Show” and attracted 157 exhibitors and 28,000 attendees. Today, the Expo boasts some 100,000 attendees and 1,600 exhibitors from around the world displaying the latest in farm equipment, chemicals, communications and technology on 2.5 million square feet of exhibit space.
