Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) was awarded today with the California Technology Champion award from TechAmerica, the nation’s leading technology trade association. The award recognizes a legislator’s contribution to California’s technology industry during the 2011 legislative year and their commitment to job growth in the sector.
“California’s technology industry has kept our state at the forefront of innovation, impacting every level of our economy and creating jobs. Helping the technology industry grow is vital to California’s economic recovery,” said Senator Cannella. “I am deeply honored to be recognized by TechAmerica as a Technology Champion, and I plan to continue to be a strong advocate for the technology industry in 2012.”
The technology industry employs over 900,000 Californians at an average wage of over $110,000, making California the top state in both categories, according to TechAmerica’s 2011 Cyberstates report.
"Senator Cannella’s steadfast commitment to creating high-tech jobs distinguishes him as an accomplished leader. We were thrilled to see Senator Cannella emerge as a new technology leader in 2011,” said Robert Callahan, TechAmerica’s Director of California State Government Affairs. “We look forward to his continued support for the technology industry as we move forward in the 2012 legislative session.”
TechAmerica represents approximately 1,000 member companies of all sizes from the public and commercial sectors of the economy. It is the industry’s largest advocacy organization and the industry’s only grassroots-to-global advocacy network.
