Senator Cannella Responds to the State of the State Address

Monday, January 31, 2011

State Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) today issued the following statement in response to the State of the State address delivered by Governor Jerry Brown this evening:

“After years of fiscally irresponsible spending and borrowing, it’s no surprise that the state of our state’s finances is so dismal, and it’s no wonder Californians across the state are calling on Sacramento to get to work now to address our unprecedented budget deficit and stimulate the long-term growth necessary to get our economy moving again.

“While I’m glad to see that Governor Brown is willing to make some important spending cuts, there is far more work to be done in the coming weeks to make the permanent reductions and fundamental reforms necessary to address our $25 billion deficit now and prevent these kinds of massive shortfalls from happening again in the future.”
