Sen. Cannella Receives Perfect Score on NFIB Legislative Voting Record for 2013

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

State Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) was given a 100% score by the National Federation of Independent Businesses/California (NFIB) for his voting record in 2013. The NFIB’s annual scorecard was recently released and ranks state legislators’ voting records on bills that support California’s small businesses. Senator Cannella also received a perfect score from NFIB in 2012.

“As a small business owner, I understand firsthand how the state can affect independent businesses. For California to continue rebounding from the recession, we must support small business growth,” said Senator Cannella. “I am truly honored that NFIB has again recognized my voting record. I look forward to working to improve the business environment for small businesses in 2014.”

In recent years, many different surveys and organizations have named California’s business climate as one of the worst in the nation due to issues such as high regulatory costs and high levels of state and local government debt. These problems all negatively affect the economy but perhaps those hardest hit are small businesses. There are approximately 3.6 million small businesses in California, representing 99% of the state’s employers and 52% of California’s private-sector employment.
