State Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) today issued the following statement after the Federal Bureau of Reclamation announced zero water allotment for the Central Valley Project.
"The U.S. Bureau of Reclamations announcement proves the need for additional water storage. Our reservoirs are low and the snow pack is not sufficient to provide the water necessary to keep so many of our farms operational and our economy afloat. And while no doubt, Proposition 1 is a huge victory and will create new infrastructure that ensures we have reliable water supplies in the future, it will take some time to complete these projects," said Cannella. "Bottom line, we need additional water storage now. This district is the breadbasket of California, generating billions of dollars for the entire state, providing food resources on a local, state, nationwide and global scale and creating jobs. A zero allotment of water is devastating for our district, and ultimately, the state."
